Dr. Mark Sutter, Director of Financial Services for the City of Las Cruces has announced that he will be retiring from that position effective August 10, 2010. In addition to his renowned expertise in municipal budgeting and financial management, Dr. Sutter is recognized regionally through active participation in the Government Financial Officers Association and other professional affiliations. As such, his background has recently led to an opportunity to also join the City of El Paso to serve as that organization’s comptroller. Current City of Las Cruces comptroller Pat Degman will therefore be appointed Interim Director of Financial Services effective next month.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Mark for a number of years and can attest to his expertise in the field of finance and it is a tremendous loss for the City of Las Cruces. I wish Mark every good and positive success in his new endeavor.
